Job Summary: The Echocardiograper is expected to interact with patients and their families in a caring, compassionate manner and provide care with the highest regard for the patient's mental, spiritual, and physical well-being. The Echocardiographer is responsible for providing basic and advanced services to pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients. The Echocardiographer is responsible for the performance of echocardiographic studies to include: Cardiac Echo, Stress Echo, and Transesophageal Echo (TEE), with and without Contrast as required. The Echocardiographer is required to deliver services to patients in all areas of the hospital, within the laboratory setting, the CVOR, and in the physician office setting. The Technologist makes procedures available 24 hours per day/seven days per week. On-Call duty is an important aspect of this position. The person in this position is expected to perform the duties and responsibilities outlined with minimal supervision and must make many independent decisions.
Minimum Requirements: Registered with a minimum of one year of experience (may include one year clinical experience as a student performing all aspects of Echocardiography to include routine, transesophageal, contrast and stress preferred, or registry eligible as a graduate from an accredited school of Echocardiography and/or with one or more years clinical training in Echocardiograph Diagnostics under the direction of a registered Echocardiographer and/or Board Certified Cardiologist/Internist required. Must obtain registry within one year of hire. Must maintain current AHA CPR certification. Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served. The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the department's policies and procedures.
