GENERAL SUMMARY:
Summary:
Perform direct patient cardiac diagnostic testing procedures with appropriate level of skill; in a timely and dependable manner consistent with current standards of care and departmental and/or hospital policy and procedure. Provide age specific care to patients of all ages. Serve as a professional resource to physicians, nursing staff and all other hospital staff.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Accurately perform all echocardiogram studies ordered by physicians, including, but limited to; Transthoracic 2-D, M-Mode, Color-flow Doppler, Transesophageal, Exercise stress and pharmacological echocardiography.
- Accurately perform other cardiac diagnostic studies as assigned, including but not limited to: EKG, Holter prep, monitoring and analysis and Cardiac stress tests.
- Correctly utilizes mechanical devices to provide the best diagnostic information to cardiology physicians to include but not limited to: echocardiographs, cardiac stress systems, electrocardiographs, Holter monitors and computer analysis.
- Accurately assesses hospital information systems for scheduling, processing and correct charging of all studies.
- Implement appropriate infection control practices and demonstrates a working knowledge of aseptic techniques and equipment disinfection.
- Interacts with students from contracted colleges and universities, providing preceptorship and clinical guidance as per contracted agreements.
- Demonstrates the ability to perform cardiac diagnostic tests following age specific guidelines and procedures, specifically with neonatal and pediatric patients.
- All other duties as assigned within the scope and range of job responsibilities.
REQUIRED MINIMUM EDUCATION AND CREDENTIAL:
- Education High School Diploma or GED
- Credential Basic Life Support Registered Cardiac Sonographer
EXPERIENCE:
Required: Successful completion of certification program and/or two years hands-on experience with echocardiography. Preferred: Extensive experience in echocardiography studies in a hospital setting. Extensive experience in both pediatric and neonatal echocardiography.
