Summary:
The Ultrasound Technologist II performs diagnostic ultrasound examinations for pre-mature neonatal, neonatal, infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients for subsequent evaluation and treatment by attending physician.
Responsibilities:
Performs routine and emergent ultrasound examinations including obtaining and documenting pertinent patient history, explaining the procedures to the patient, answering the patient's questions, and gaining the patient's written consent; maintains professional flexibility when confronted with the rigors of on-call and rotational scheduling. Works closely with the Radiologists and other inter and intra departmental healthcare team members to ensure proper delivery of coordinated services, to include assisting in other modalities. Coaches and mentors newly reported Radiologic Technologists and Diagnostic Imaging Associates and students (i.e. agency, seasonal, transfers, new hires). Exercises fiscal responsibility by ensuring proper inventory control and prudent uses of existing resources, as defined by the department CRC. Ensures equipment is properly maintained and proactively addresses all equipment concerns. Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirement:
- HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA OR GED
- REGISTERED DIAGNOSTIC MEDICAL SONOGRAPHER (RDMS)
- BASIC LIFE SUPPORT (BLS)
