Primary Function: Responsible for providing quality diagnostic ultrasound procedures and the care needed to ensure patient comfort and safety.
Responsibilities:
- Independently perform ultrasound examinations exercising judgment to recognize and record pathologists and abnormalities necessary to provide a diagnosis.
- Review patient’s medical records and clinical information to evaluates patient’s condition and to determine the diagnostic information the physician is seeking.
- Summarize and document findings for radiologists and communicate with referring physicians, radiologists, nursing staff and other departments about the examination.
- Maintain current knowledge of specialty by attending seminars, in-services and reading journals.
- Assist specialty physicians in performing invasive procedures (e.g., amniocentesis and biopsies) by providing ultrasound guidance for needle entrance.
- Performs all other related duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications and Specifications: A graduate from an accredited Ultrasound program required. A minimum of six months job-related experience or equivalent is required. CPR Certification required. RDMS required. RVT required (Certified Ultrasonographer position only).
