Job Summary And Qualifications
Responsible for the day-to-day clinical, technical and operational functions within the Imaging department. This includes, but is not limited to, the efficient, effective procurement, utilization and stewardship of all technical, physical and human resources. Ensures compliance with patient care quality standards as it relates to care provided to all age groups of patients ranging from neonate to geriatric. Maintains performance improvement activities within the department and participates in CQI activities. Assures competency of all personnel. Assists in formulating the budget. Must be capable of developing, interpreting and administering all policies, procedures and protocols of the department, hospital and partnership. Must maintain efficient and effective department operations while requiring compliance with all Joint Commission, state, federal, Corporate Radiation Right, and local regulatory laws, standards and protocols. Must possess critical thinking skills and be capable of assuming complete departmental authority and responsibility in the absence of the Director. Must strive to create and maintain great relationships with all facility stakeholders.
- You will direct and participate in the human resource management function for the department by coordinating the selection, promotion, orientation, and performance appraisal processes.
- You will participate in disciplinary action and ongoing assessment of all staff within the Radiology Dept.
- You will ensure availability of adequately trained/licensed staff to maintain departmental operations.
- You will coordinate orientation for new employees and ensure completion of annual performance appraisal for clinical Radiology and support staff.
- You will maintain flow of communication between all staff through monthly staff meetings, memos, bulletin boards, emails, and formal and/or informal discussions.
- You will provide educational opportunities in accordance with mandatory requirements and departmental needs.
- You will initiate, interpret, maintain and enforce Imaging Services policies and hospital policies and procedures.
- You will work with Hospital administration, Imaging Director & Staff Physicians on planning, organizing and directing Imaging Services operations and ensuring compliance with all local, state and federal regulations.
- You will make daily rounds in Imaging Services to judge the effectiveness of operations, utilization of personnel and supplies, and general ethical and professional atmosphere.
- You will flex staffing to appropriate levels for expected volume of scheduled and unscheduled patients/procedures. Float staff between departments to optimize throughput.
- You will establish and maintain standards of performance. Direct and assist with workflow as needed during times of high volume.
- You will delegate authority and responsibilities to appropriate Imaging Services personnel.
- You will communicate with Radiologists and other physicians to coordinate and facilitate department schedules, and timely/optimal patient care.
- You will interact professionally with patient/family. Consult other departments, as appropriate, to collaborate in patient care and performance improvement activities.
- You will secure and maintain the physical facilities, equipment and supplies which are required to carry out effective patient care and create an optimum physical environment.
- You will promote effective intradepartmental and interdepartmental relationships.
- You will attend and participate on hospital committees, as appropriate.
- You will carry on continuous analysis, evaluation and audit of Imaging Services.
- You will provide statistical reports within established timeframes.
- You will initiate and actuate improved methods of services and manage their implementation.
- You will maintain departmental operations within established productivity standards.
- You will monitor departmental expenses; provide rationale as needed.
- You will work closely with vendors/contracted service engineers to obtain necessary information for purchases/repairs.
- You will identify research and develop additional services that promote additional revenue opportunities.
- You will assist the Director with annual budgetary process.
- You will serve as a liaison between the Radiology Department and customers, both internal and external.
- You will provide rapid follow-up to identify problems/issues/Incident Reports, including feedback to concerned customers.
- You will ensure compliance with established regulatory guidelines, including but not limited to HCA’s Radiation Right Program, The Joint Commission, TDH, and OSHA. Is responsible for assisting in the the implementation, monitoring and evaluation of performance improvement and CQI activities.
- You will promote teamwork and interdepartmental cooperation by establishing expectations and by serving as role model.
- You will review departmental policies and procedures and job descriptions annually and update as appropriate.
- You will manage projects and perform tasks independently and as delegated by Director.
- You will provide staff education with an emphasis on our ICARE values and organizational performance/quality improvement program.
What qualifications you will need:
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Technologist; 3 years Supervisory
- Excellent written, verbal and communication skills.
- Ability to work autonomously and independently, with minimal supervision required.
- Prefer 5 years of leadership experience
- Bachelor’s Degree required.
- Graduate from an accredited school of Radiology Technology required.
- Must have one of the following: ARRT, NMTCB, or ARDMS.
- Basic knowledge of Hospital and Radiology Information Systems
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Software; Advanced Excel preferred.
- Ability to function in a fast paced environment and make critical decisions in a timely manner.
- Basic knowledge of all types of imaging equipment and asset management.
- Serves as clinical & technical resource for all Imaging department staff and physicians.
- Must be able to demonstrate understanding of HCA’s strict compliance to all safety protocols and procedures
