Job Summary
A Sonographer operates ultrasound equipment to produce images of internal organs and structures for diagnostic purposes. This role involves patient preparation, equipment operation, and image interpretation for subsequent diagnosis by physicians.
Responsibilities
Prepare patients for ultrasound examinations, explaining procedures and ensuring patient comfort and safety.
Operate ultrasound equipment to produce high-quality images of specified body parts.
Position patients correctly for various ultrasound procedures according to established protocols.
Perform basic image interpretation and documentation.
Maintain and clean ultrasound equipment and rooms.
Adhere to safety protocols and maintain accurate patient records.
Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals.
Qualifications
State licensure as a Sonographer.
ARDMS (American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography) certification.
Minimum of 6 months of sonography experience.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced hospital environment.
Skills
Proficiency in operating ultrasound equipment.
Knowledge of anatomy and physiology.
Attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
