Diagnostic Technologist is responsible for the independent operation of diagnostic equipment to create the necessary images and obtain measurements. Individual must maintain a high degree of accuracy in positioning and scanning technique. Communicates with the patient and relays any pertinent information to the radiologist and documents on tracking sheet/chart. Communicates with the radiologist and understands and performs any necessary additional exams.
RESULTS MEASURED BY THE FOLLOWING RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Produces high-quality ultrasound images and obtain appropriate measurements for each exam
- Documents all applicable patient and procedure data consistently and correctly
- Explains procedures adequately to patients to maximize patient comfort and cooperation
- Appropriate monitoring during all phases of the procedure with special care taken to ensure patient emotional and physical well-being
- Assist and/or chaperones radiologist when they are performing ultrasound exams
- Assists radiologists during ultrasound biopsy procedures using appropriate sterile technique and universal precautions
- Communicates patient information in a professional and courteous manner to patients and to referring physicians' offices as required.
- Maintains the ultrasound equipment for cleanliness and ensures proper equipment maintenance and equipment safety
- Maintains a good working relationship with Radiologists and other Center staff members
- Other duties as assigned
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- A graduate of a formal Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program that is accredited by the Commission Accreditation of Allied Health Education Program.
- Certificates: Active certification with ARDMS. Current compliance with CME requirements.
- Ability to effectively communicate information on a one-on-one and small group basis to doctors, patients, and other employees.
- Needs to be able to stand for long periods of time.
